MS Gulf Coast Chapter of The University of Alabama Alumni & Friends

CRITERIA & APPLICATION FOR SCHOLARSHIP AWARD

Criteria:

1.  Student must be accepted for enrollment, or enrolled & attending, The University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa.  Attach acceptance letter or grade report to application.

2.  Parents or grandparents of student must be a member of the local Chapter for five consecutive years prior to award application.  (Parent or grandparent may write
check for all five years in one year.)

3.  Student must complete application & submit to Chapter Secretary/Treasurer by July 15 of each year.

4.  Amount of scholarship award will be determined based on amount of Chapter funds available, and how many students apply.

CONGRATULATIONS TYLER (l) AND DRU (r)!

In July 2005, the Chapter awarded $500 scholarships to Dru Holland of Gulfport and Tyler Benfield of Biloxi.  Both young men are current students at The University of Alabama, and children of charter Chapter members.

Tyler has also been awarded The University of Alabama Alumni Leadership Scholarship, UA Alumni Scholar Award, UA Alumni Heritage Scholarship, Arts and Science Collegiate Fund Scholarship, and President’s Cabinet Scholarship.  He is a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity.  He graduated from Biloxi High School and is the son of Mr. & Mrs. Michael S. (Lisa) Benfield of Biloxi.

Dru is majoring in Biology and has been awarded the UA Alumni Heritage Scholarship, UA Alumni Honors Scholarship, President’s Cabinet Scholarship, J. Henry Walker Biology Scholarship, and a 4-year Air Force ROTC Scholarship.  He is a graduate of Gulfport High School, and is the son of Drs. James & Maureen Holland.
